The shared-draft problem
Emailing a manuscript back and forth, or dropping it in a shared doc, loses everything that makes your world model useful — character facts, timeline context, and prior notes stay behind in your own tool while your editor works from a flat file.
Choose exactly which book they see
When you invite someone to your workspace, you pick which vault(s) they get access to — not your entire workspace by default. A proofreader working on one manuscript never sees your other, unrelated projects unless you explicitly share them too.
See who has access, and change it anytime
Every vault has its own Collaborators list. Share it with any other member of your workspace whenever you want, and revoke one person's access to just that vault — without removing them from your workspace entirely.
Full context, not just raw text
Because a collaborator is a real member of the vault, they see the same connected characters, relationships, and timeline you do — not a flat manuscript file stripped of the context that makes your world consistent.
In-line comments and mentions
An editor or proofreader can leave threaded comments directly on a passage, tag entities by name, and resolve feedback in place — the same commenting system you already use for your own notes.
Nothing shared until you choose to share it
A local vault stays fully private on your machine — no account, nothing uploaded. Collaboration requires enabling Sync for that vault first, and even then, only the people you explicitly invite or share with ever see it.
FAQ
Can I share just one book, not my whole workspace?
Yes. When you invite someone, you choose which vault(s) they get access to. You can also share an additional vault with an already-joined collaborator later, one at a time, from that vault's own Collaborators section.
Can I revoke an editor's access later?
Yes — remove their access to a single vault from that vault's Collaborators section, or remove them from your workspace entirely to revoke everything at once.
Does my editor need their own paid subscription?
No. Only the workspace owner needs a Sync or Team plan to send invitations — the person you invite just needs a free Lokee account to accept.
Can an editor comment on my manuscript?
Yes — anyone with access to a vault can leave threaded comments and @-mention entities, the same commenting system built into Writer.
Is my manuscript private until I share it?
Yes. A local vault never leaves your machine, and a cloud vault is only visible to the people you've explicitly added as a member of that specific vault.
