LOKEE TERMS OF SERVICE
Effective date: 25 June 2026 (25.06.2026)
Legal URL: https://lokee.app/terms
1. Service provider
Lokee is provided by IsnTech Paweł Arent, NIP PL7123459159, ul. Pana Wołodyjowskiego 3/81, 20-627 Lublin, Poland. Product support: support@lokee.app. Legal notices: legal@lokee.app.
2. Product scope
Lokee is a local-first knowledge vault for fiction, worldbuilding, historical/research organisation, RPG creation and structured narrative work. It includes or may include a web application, Windows and macOS desktop applications, local vaults, entity and relationship management, source/document import, graph and timeline views, cloud sync, team features, managed AI and subscription billing.
The first production direction includes local MVP, accounts, sync and AI. Desktop builds may be released gradually. Early beta desktop installers may be shown by Windows, macOS, browsers, antivirus tools or app stores as unknown, unsafe, untrusted or unreliable because signing, notarisation, reputation and distribution flows mature over time. Users should install Lokee only from official Lokee download pages or repositories indicated by Lokee.
3. Account and local use
Free Local use does not require an account. Online features such as sync, AI credits, team use, billing, support history or web access may require an account. Users must provide accurate account and billing information and keep credentials secure.
Login is currently planned through email/password and Google OAuth. Users under 18 may use Lokee only with parent/legal guardian consent and supervision. We do not actively verify age at registration.
4. Plans and commercial terms
| Plan | Current commercial position |
|---|---|
| Free Local | Free local use for authors and creators; no account required for purely local use. |
| Lokee Sync | USD 5.99 per month; optional account, cloud sync and related online features. |
| Lokee Team | USD 9.99 per month; team-oriented account features. |
| Extra seat | USD 3.99 per additional seat per month, where enabled. |
| AI credits | Purchasable credits; coupons and promotional credits may be issued. |
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before renewal. A 7-day free trial may be offered. Coupons, discounts, beta access or AI-credit promotions may be provided at our discretion and may have separate limits or expiry dates.
Commercial use is allowed only on paid plans or under a separate commercial/team licence, unless we explicitly state otherwise. Lokee remains author-creator friendly: free local use is intended to support individual writers and creators, while paid plans fund sync, cloud, AI and product development.
5. Cancellation and account deletion
Users may cancel paid plans from the account page where available or by contacting support@lokee.app. Account deletion is handled by support request. Cloud account data is targeted for deletion within 30 days after account deletion, except for data retained for tax, accounting, legal, security, claim or backup-integrity reasons.
Local vaults are stored on the user’s device and must be deleted by the user from that device and any user-controlled backup locations.
6. Consumer rights and digital services
Where the user is a consumer or otherwise benefits from consumer protection law, mandatory rights remain unaffected. Digital services, subscriptions, sync, AI credits and downloadable software may be subject to special withdrawal rules. The separate Billing, Subscription and Refund Policy and withdrawal form explain the current process.
Business users acknowledge that they act in a professional context where applicable and may have different rights than consumers.
7. Cloud sync, history and downgrades
If sync is enabled, Lokee may store full vault content with history/version data in the cloud. Current cloud hosting target is Microsoft Azure in the EU, Poland Central where technically available. History retention is not yet finally fixed. Downgrades do not immediately delete data, but may restrict access, upload, sync, team functions, edits, new writes or storage until the account fits the plan.
End-to-end encryption is planned but not yet implemented. We will not describe a feature as E2EE unless it is technically implemented and server-side access to keys is prevented.
8. AI features
AI is optional. Managed AI may use OpenAI and Anthropic. BYOK is planned for local desktop use only. AI features may process whole uploaded documents when the user starts extraction or another AI workflow. AI suggestions are proposals only and should be reviewed by the user before persistence or reliance.
We do not use vault content to train our own models and do not plan to do so. AI outputs, extraction and classification can be inaccurate. The user remains responsible for reviewing, accepting, rejecting and editing results.
9. User content and rights
Users retain rights to their own vaults, documents, entity files, relationships, timelines, boards, notes, extracted structures and accepted AI-assisted outputs, subject to rights of third parties and applicable AI-provider terms. We do not acquire ownership of user content.
Users grant us a limited licence to host, copy, process, transmit, display, back up, secure, analyse and otherwise handle content only as needed to provide features chosen by the user, such as sync, backup, web access, team access, AI, support or legal compliance.
Users confirm that they have rights, licence, legal basis or permission to import, upload, process and sync documents and source materials. Users must not use Lokee to infringe copyright or other third-party rights. We do not pre-check all user content and are not responsible for user infringement to the fullest extent permitted by law, but we may remove cloud content, restrict features or suspend accounts after credible notice or legal obligation.
10. Prohibited use
Users must not use Lokee, especially cloud, AI, sync, team and support features, to store, transmit, process or facilitate:
- illegal content or activity;
- child sexual abuse material or sexual exploitation content;
- non-consensual intimate content;
- content facilitating serious violence, trafficking, terrorism, self-harm instructions or serious crime;
- unlawful drug-trafficking or controlled-substance activity;
- malicious code, credential theft, phishing or unauthorised access;
- illegal surveillance, doxxing or privacy violations;
- processing of sensitive/private personal data without the necessary legal basis and safeguards;
- infringement of copyright, database rights, trade secrets, confidentiality or other third-party rights.
We do not proactively inspect purely local vaults. However, where prohibited use involves online services or becomes known to us, we may suspend or terminate access, delete or preserve content, notify authorities, cooperate with lawful requests and take steps needed to protect users, third parties and Lokee.
11. Desktop software, signing and updates
Desktop builds may be distributed for Windows and macOS. Windows signing is planned or used where available. macOS signing/notarisation is planned and may be handled by an authorised distribution partner or developer identity; official download pages should identify the expected signing identity where relevant. Beta builds may still produce operating-system warnings.
Auto-updates may be provided through an Electron auto-updater or similar mechanism. Updates should require user consent or clear user action before installation, unless a security update mechanism is separately described.
12. Availability and beta features
Lokee may include beta, experimental or partially available features. We may change, limit, suspend or discontinue features, especially during MVP and beta phases. We aim to preserve user portability and export wherever reasonably possible.
13. Support and complaints
Support requests should be sent to support@lokee.app. Legal notices should be sent to legal@lokee.app. Complaints are handled within 14 days where reasonably possible, unless the matter requires additional information, technical investigation or a longer legally permitted period.
14. Liability
Lokee is a tool. Users are responsible for their content, legal basis, copyright compliance, backups, review of AI outputs, local device security and use of the product. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for unlawful user content, user-side copyright violations, local data loss, local device compromise, inaccurate AI output or use outside the intended fiction/history-first purpose. Mandatory consumer rights and liability that cannot be excluded by law remain unaffected.
15. Governing law and language
These Terms are governed by Polish law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply to consumers in their place of residence. The Polish language version controls in case of conflict between versions.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms when the product, pricing, providers, legal requirements or risk model changes. The current version is published at https://lokee.app/terms.
This document is a production draft for a Poland/EU-first launch and should be reviewed by a qualified Polish lawyer before publication.
